Ok... Now let’s give you a little break down on the history of peanut butter... The first ever nut butter. The earliest reference to peanut butter can be traced all the way back to the ancient Incas and Aztecs who ground up roasted peanuts into a paste. In 1884 Marcellus Gilmore Edson patented peanut paste which was the finished product from milling roasted peanuts between two heated surfaces. Then, in 1895 Dr. John Harvey Kellogg the founder of Kellogg’s cereal, patented a process for creating peanut butter from raw peanuts. Dr. Kellogg marketed it as a nutritious protein substitute for people who could hardly chew on solid food. Soon after Dr. Kellogg’s creation of peanut butter, Dr. Ambrose Straub patented a peanut butter making machine in 1903 and the rest was history. So basically, we owe it all to these three innovators who helped establish peanut butter as the nutritious staple ingredient found in over 90% of American households today.
